I’m back on Blogging board for 2016!

Hi everyone! I decided to make a comeback to this blog. More so I can keep in touch with those further away from other sites like facebook and the newsletter! And because it’s important to journal my art progresses and keep everyone in the know with my arts.

Since I shut off from this blog, I have gone onto do exceptionally well in a short time,Β  the star of 2015 being my exhibitions overseas in Venice and Paris! This has in turn yielded some further international opportunities set for 2016. A very exciting time ahead.

2014 we remember me restarting my works on the Volky series and they have been popular around most of the world. While I have created more Volky works as an ongoing project and as a visual storyteller, I have developed other collections in my arts career, one of them being a star favourite – the Blue Ghost series! I had a kickstarter for this collection’s beginnings to create more artworks for an exhibition in Melbourne and develop an art book – the first of many. Blue Ghosts in Melbourne for March 2015 turned out to be a great success with nearly all artworks sold! Artworks from the Blue Ghosts collection were exhibited in the Venice Biennale 2015 in November at the Luca Curci Gallery in Ca’ Zanardi and they were well received during the exhibition. Smaller artworks from the various collections were exhibited in Paris, having been selected to show in a juried art exhibition called ‘A Single Grain of Rice 2015′ at Galerie Metanoia.

Since the Port Noarlunga exhibition, a council in an Adelaide inner-city suburb Thebarton, has commissioned me to create 12 pieces for their headquarters as part of preserving the historical area that holds a story about the first settlers of Adelaide and the old houses’ testament to that! It was a honour to take this commission for the council and to create a striking series of artworks of various buildings and houses of the area that retell the history.

Photos of the Venice exhibition and various photos of the latest artworks are shown below as well as a link to my website to view more of my works.

In May 2016, I am having a solo exhibition in Melbourne at the Gasworks starting from 17th May until 9th June. The theme will be Wait of World – about the changes that have happened over the last century and current changes happening and all will be in large format watercolour on watercolour paper. The opening night will be on 17th May at 6 pm and then dinner, all at the Gasworks in Albert Park!

Last but not least, my artworks have made their way onto clothes and various products including homewares, which are to be released officially in early 2016 for sale!

And then a sneak preview into the upcoming Europe 2015 collection… along with a colouring book I will be releasing in mid 2016. And yes there will be a Volky arts dedicated colouring book after the first one πŸ˜‰

Wrapping up for 2014!

First I would like to wish all a Merry Christmas and I hope you have a safe and awesome start to 2015!

This year has been a successful jump ahead for me in my arts and as an artist. Taxi the VW bug is becoming a star in the arts world through my illustrations and people are always enjoying the abandoned and old places in my works as well as the volky adventure and animals artworks.

2015 will start off with me working on some large size watercolour artworks for an upcoming solo exhibition in Melbourne which I’m looking forward to, and then some projects based on books and well the rest you will have to wait to find out so keep your eyes on this space πŸ™‚

Changes to the blog….

Hello, I’m back after a long time and I apologise but at the same time I needed to focus on other areas of gypsysnail’s arts like making a proper website (which is http://www.chelledestefano.com), many exhibitions and new art projects! I will outline each of these things but first I want to explain what is happening with my blog now.

You will notice the title Gypsysnail’s Arts has changed to Chelle Destefano – Projects and What’s Happening Buzz Feed and this is because I wanted to keep my real name as my artist name as people know who I am and it is easier for all to refer to me as the artist, and gypsysnails arts will just be my pen name (as in sketch name) as a business name for the future, and because I want to use this blog as a platform for keeping everyone updated on what is happening in my artist sphere as an easier means of communicating rather than slapdash updates onto my actual website. A blog is an easier way of putting updates right there and letting everyone who subscribes to my blog know what is happening and then they can share to their media social networks my updates/projects/etc if they wanted to.

I will be ready to post the first updates shortly

Toys… in their sketched pre-watercoloured phase…

The toys I drew – and in this post you can see them in their pre-sketched phase. They have since been watercoloured and painted but we will wait until after the exhibition has started, as so not to spoil the surprise for many who will be attending my exhibition ;). TheseΒ  toys as you can tell, are from an era gone by, vintage toys but still pre-loved

Latest drawing for the Vintage exhibition….

This is only the preliminary sketch of the 40’s room I want to draw and paint in ink and wash (in monocolour). I’m hoping for a greyscale type of monocolour……

NB: It is not completely finished yet but wanted to post here to give a clue on the next piece

It’s Friday!

I am so glad it’s Friday again! More so wanting this weekend to come fast as I have big plans for my art projects and a great deal lot of work I want to do. I have just cleared my art table up to make room for the new works I want to start….. I’m hoping (in my naivety ha ha) that I will be able to start two at the same time, that big one of a phone in the hallway against a wallpaper and the monochrome kitchen painting.

The one thing I desire is to get away for one weekend to the country, phone off and no computer and totally get absorbed into my art and take in the nature around me…. hoping to plan for this in a few weeks time and when I do, I will be posting here photos of how it goes!

Further news: One of my drawings sold tonight! πŸ™‚ The Attic Peephole (image below) has found a new happy home. Congratulations to the buyer of this piece πŸ™‚
